Primary Care:

The personal doctor-patient relationship is the basis of optimal healthcare delivery. At Restorative Wellness Center, we believe in providing comprehensive primary medical care and preventative medicine combined with integrating alternative therapies to deliver a more holistic caring approach to improving and maintaining one’s physical and mental health and well-being.

What does Primary Care look like at Restorative?

At Restorative Wellness Center, Dr. Mike can provide “old school” personal and un-rushed medical attention. The doctor works for and is accountable to the patient, not the insurance company. Office visits can be longer, to receive more personal quality time, as well as faster access to the doctor. Our primary care revolves around you and your schedule or needs. No need to run to “urgent care” after hours, we are there for you 24/7. Studies have proven that this model provides better health outcomes and reduced costs.

There is no need for insurance billing and no copays will be collected at the office visits, we are fee for service. While we do not bill insurance, you still need to carry health insurance to cover other services like surgery, hospitalizations, specialty care, diagnostic testing, etc. However, with Restorative’s primary care, you can choose a less expensive plan like one with a higher deductible, or combining primary care with your Health Savings Account (HSA).

Concierge medicine is often confused with primary care. Concierge practices generally charge a higher annual fee, bill insurance, and collect copays at the office visits. However, the key distinction is that primary care is explicitly mentioned in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) as an acceptable option for receiving medical care without insurance, while concierge medicine is not.

What can I expect to receive?

  • Comprehensive annual physical exam with wellness and health risk assessment

  • Regular extended office visits and follow ups

  • Emergency sick visits same day or next AM

  • Timely follow up on all diagnostic studies/ labs  (even normal results)

  • Basic office procedures like ECG’s, audiometry

  • Simple laceration repairs, large joint injections, and cryosurgery

  • Minor office labs like urinalysis, blood sugar test, rapid Strep or Influenza tests

  • Care coordination as your advocate if you are hospitalized, or need to see a specialist

What is excluded?

  • As with any primary care, we do not replace the need for the emergency room for chest pain, stroke, acute shortness of breath, etc.  You will need to call 911, but you can call us to advocate when you get there.

  • Supplies for procedures like cortisone for joint injections, suture material, etc. will be billed to you at cost, but no extra charge for the procedure itself.

  • Attorneys letters or completion of extensive forms other than for annual physical exams.

How to get started

Come in and meet Dr. Mike! If you have additional questions before starting, please call and have a conversation with our office manager. However, we believe that you will recognize the benefit of the personal attention that you will receive and become a “part of the family” here. Dr. Mike has always told his patients that he will treat them like a brother or sister, and give them the same referrals, advice, and care as he would his own family member. That is what personal family medicine is all about, and why Dr. Mike entered into primary care in the first place.

I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer Stage 3 in the summer of 2021 (July 27th to be exact) I began my chemotherapy on August 12th of 2021, right before the 2021-22 school year. I am an ESL teacher in Chinatown in Philadelphia. This review is going to be about Dr. Mike, but I wanted to give some background and context first. Needless to say we’ve been to our fair share of doctors during this time, and I must say that Dr. Mike excels beyond the doctors that I have seen. Don’t get me wrong, I have seen some great doctors during this time as well as some that weren’t so good with bed-side manner, but I want to lay out 3 reasons why Dr. Mike Warner is a fantastic doctor. He’s professional, personal, and a great encourager for my faith and life. For his professional nature, Dr. Mike blends well his many years of experience with a lot of knowledge and expertise. I have found at times when meeting with some older physicians that they caan possess a certain arrogance, but no so with Dr. Mike. His advice is sound, from the years of experience, but it never comes with a feeling of condescension. As being personal, Dr. Mike takes his time to make sure your needs and questions are addressed. He makes a point to make sure that you are heard and makes it feel like a conversation rather than him taking in 2-3 bits of information and making a quick diagnosis. I have never felt rushed or misunderstood by Dr. Mike, but I have had my share of misunderstandings by other doctors. Again, please don’t read this as me taking every opportunity to slam other doctors, but rather for the purposes of this review to show that Dr. Mike excels in some areas where I’ve had a hard time with other doctors. As an encourager, Dr. Mike is often very encouraging and tries to make sure that his patients receive that encouragement on a regular basis. He is kind with his words and has also encouraged me in my faith. I really appreciate hearing from Dr. Mike whether the news may be hard or positive. For example, we started seeing him right around the time of my diagnosis on a regular basis, but we’ve also had many positive visits with Dr. Mike since then. I appreciate his conversational approach and his love for other people. Although, according to insurance, I cannot claim Dr. Mike as my Primary Care Doctor, but for me and my family he will be this for us. Thank you Dr. Mike for providing the much-needed and often neglected side of healthcare, which is knowledge coupled with treating people as people and not as subjects. I think that our healthcare system would be better if more doctors were like Dr. Mike, creating an environment of comfort for their patients in good and hard times, as well as providing the necessary information that they need to make informed decisions.
